New brands boost Vincon sales

Wine producer Vincon Vrancea reported $21m in turnover last year, up 24% from 2002's $17m. "The growth was mainly fuelled by the fine wines, which surged 27% from 2002, as we launched the Vita Romaneasca brand. The brandy section was even more spectacular, as it soared 90%," Danut Ghejan, sales director at Vincon Vrancea, told Ziarul Financiar. Vincon estimates 20% growth this year, up to $25m. Ghejman claims Vincon attained 9% of the fine wine market last year, 20% more than in 2002. The average price for a 0.75-litre bottle amounted to $1.5 last year, 35% higher than in 2002. ZF
