Astaldi makes 55m euros in Romania

Italy-based Astaldi Group, one of the most powerful European operators in the constructions industry estimates to log approximately 55 million euro turnover in Romania this year, which is 37% more than in 2002. "The volume of contracts signed by Astaldi on the Romanian market amounts to about 180 million euros, though," Francesco Scaglione, Astaldi's general manager for Romania told Ziarul Financiar. He added the projected turnover for 2004 was 70 million euros, as the company was considering taking part in a series of projects related to infrastructure, purifying stations, water supplying works or road construction and rehabilitation. Astaldi's investments in construction equipment and installations are worth more than 40 million euros so far, according to the latest available data. Ast aldi Group in 2001 bought SUGT Calarasi, in which it invested over 2 million euros (acquisition costs inclusive) and developed a mechanisation workshop and an aggregate facility. ZF
