Bistrita-based Rombat, the main domestic maker of car batteries, posted more than 14.7 million-euro turnover in the first three months of this year, an increase of 165% on 2007. "The improved financial indicators in RON stood at more than 180% compared with the same time last year. This substantial growth is due to the development of the production capacity, a project implemented last year," Elena Sava, marketing manager of Rombat told ZF Transilvania. This year, the management forecasts turnover worth 70 million euros, up 143% on 2007. "Our estimates for this year will be achieved if the lead price stays at around 1,800 euros/tonne and the exchange rate stays at about 3.55RON/EUR. The turnover increase in RON will amount to over 150% compared with last year," Elena Sava added. Rom bat expects business to overshoot the 87 million-euro mark in 2010.
