Rigips Romania, one of the local divisions of French group Saint-Gobain, intends to build a new plasterboard plant in Turceni, with a capacity of over 30 million square metres, in which it will invest around 70 million euros, according to company information. Rigips' investments on the local market could thus exceed 120 million euros, after the company has already built a plasterboard plant and a gypsum plant in Turda, Cluj county, and also opened a quarry there. Rigips, which forecasts sales worth around 60 million euros this year, up 20% against last year, is set to enter into competition with the Lafarge Arcom Gips division of French group Lafarge, which is also interested in building a plant near the Turceni Energy Complex (CE Turceni), according to information not officially confirmed by Lafarge representatives.
