Reinert Romania, the company in which Germany's charcuterie producer Reinert has invested over 15m euros, the group's biggest investment outside Germany, is far from hitting the business targets it set when it started producing domestically three years ago: 10m-euro turnover and presence among the five biggest domestic charcuterie producers by late 2009. According to research by MEMRB company, Reinert in 2009 did not reach the top of the five biggest producers along the best-selling product categories domestically, salami, sausages and frankfurters. Also, though the company's representatives did not disclose the company's 2009 turnover, this is unlikely to have doubled during last year, from 4.8m euros in 2008 in the context where the entire market declined. Despite these results, Reinert representatives maintain they do not plan to give up the Romanian subsidiary and will further develop Romanian operations. "Reinert's Romanian figures are getting better each month. The Romanian company's management is confident Reinert's positive development in Romania will continue," stated Hans-Ewald Reinert, managing partner of Reinert Romania.
