Petrom City, the 130m-euro headquarters set to host 2,500employees of Romania's biggest company, was launched at the end oflast week, more than two years and a half after construction worksstarted.

For the event, which took place in Străuleşti, in northernBucharest, Petrom sent around 700 invitations.
The Petrom City project was designed by the architects ofAnin.Jeromin.Fitilidis & Partner, with Austria's Alpine as theconstruction company.
"Today, employees want to keep in touch with their natural habitat, and people in the city do not want to be left in the dark aboutwhat happens behind the doors, which are anyway closed, of such acompany. Reflective glass facades deny transparency, which turnsany glass structure into something suspicious, leading in somecases to the rebirth of stone," explain the architects.
Domestic specialists say Petrom City is bringing a major change, also reflected in the high price of the work: 130m euros, the mostexpensive office project finalised so far.
"We're not living just for money, but also for prestige. No matterhow much the project costs, the idea is the headquarters is myhouse, and my interest is for it to impress. (...)," concludesCălin Negoescu, technical director with Westfourth Architecture, one of the biggest architecture offices on the market.
