Cuprom owners invest 10m euros in glass plant

24.06.2008, 20:44 14

GlassCorp, controlled by businessmen Horia Pitulea and Horia Simu, owners of Cuprom, has become the largest windscreen manufacturer on the local market following a 10m-euro investment in a plant in Buzau. The only other producer that operates on this market is Gerom Buzau, which has seen a considerable reduction in windscreen production after it lost its contract with Dacia in 2006. "Over the next few years, we will expand our production capacity, depending on the contracts we sign with automobile manufacturers. We will be able to double our capacity over a very short period of time, of around 7-8 months, after a seven million-euro investment," said Marius Neagu, chairman of the company's Board of Directors. The plant will produce 200,000 windscreens and one million square metres of safety glass for the constructions, furniture and home appliance sectors.
