Exports push Armatura Cluj up

01.06.2006, 00:00 11

The manufacturer of household taps Armatura Cluj-Napoca posted a turnover worth over 5.7 million RON (1.6 million euros) in the first three months of the year, a 0.7% increase against the same period last year. "The increase is not substantial, because we faced a significant drop in sales on the domestic market due to a surprisingly long winter. The first quarter is not a very favourable time for the installations market," stated Petru Turc, general manager of Armatura. According to him, the trend seen in the first three months of the year is primarily a consequence of the increase in the value of exports, with sales on the external market now accounting for 26% of the total sales made by the company. "During the same period of last year, exports accounted for just 10% of the total sales. During the forthcoming months, we intend to increase the value of exports to over 30% of the sales. Our expansion to the foreign market is a direct consequence of the fact that the domestic market is seeing a continuous fall," Turc added. ZF
