Medicover''s Romanian business up 54%

Medical service company Medicover Romania posted revenues worth 6.5 million euros last year, an increase of 54% on 2004, according to its preliminary financial results. The subscription revenues, which account for about 70% of the total revenues, went up by 60% compared with the previous year, the report reads. The base of customers using Medicover''s services by subscription, increased by 44%, to a total of 34,800 customers. Medicover operates six medical centres, three of which located in Bucharest and one in Focsani, Cluj-Napoca and Constanta each. Besides these, Medicover is also subcontracting medical services to other 42 partner clinics in 37 cities. Medicover concluded a partnership with Aviva Asigurari de Viata last year, providing its clients with private health insurance policies. Synevo, the lab division of the Medicover Group, saw its revenues progress by 30% in 2005, to 8 million euros. Synevo''s Romanian business accounts for approximately 60% of the results derived by the entire group. At present, Synevo Romania has eight labs, located in Bucharest, Constanta, Cluj-Napoca, Satu Mare and Suceava, two of which operate independently, while the others operate in hospitals. The lab network performs more than 350,000 tests a month, with the test portfolio including 250 different investigations, from haematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology to allergology and molecular biology.
