Mondex targets sales worth 8m euros

15.05.2006, 00:00 13

The management of Mondex Sibiu, one of the leading manufacturers of women''s stockings in Romania, estimates sales worth over 8 million euros this year, a 15% increase against last year. The turnover, which amounted to some 6.4 million euros (23 million RON) in 2004, is expected to follow the same trend. "The textile market continues to be unstable. There is still a strong competition from products from the East, which, even though cannot compare to Romanian products in terms of quality, have found an opening on the market, represented by the poor population which, lacking money, does not have quality of the products in mind when shopping," Maria Brandasu, general manager of Mondex Sibiu, told ZF TRANSILVANIA. According to her, integration into the European Union will bring about an increased competition among Romanian producers, which will try to preserve the market segment they have. After the integration, Romanian producers will face a big challenge in terms of the skilled work force, which will be freer to migrate," Brandasu specified. Company development plans for this year include expanding the retail network to up to 100 stores of its own, 79 more than it currently owns. ZF
