Mondostar faced with increased pressure of wage costs

21.02.2007, 19:41 8

Sibiu-based textile manufacturer Mondostar estimates an approximately 7 million-euro turnover for this year, with the value representing a 12% increase against last year. "It is difficult to make a clear estimate on a very unstable Romanian clothing market, especially regarding the workforce. Personnel fluctuation is very high, the pressure of wage costs goes up daily and productivity remains low," Mircea Vasiu, brand manager of Mondostar told ZF. The companyes projects, for this year, aim at consolidating the positioning of the companyes own brands. "This year we intend to focus more on opening Boulevard outlets than on opening our own stores. This strategic repositioning is prompted by the big costs involved in the opening of a new store, as well as by the purchasing power that is still quite low in Romania and by a relatively low frequency of purchases for the products we are selling," specified Mircea Vasiu.
