Pambac's nine-month turnover tops 31 million euros

This month Pambac will launch a new brand on the pasta market

The milling and bakery producer Pambac Bacau saw its nine-month turnover rising by 26%, to 31.2 million euros, close to the total value derived in 2005.
The company's nine-month profit amounted to 560,000 euros. "The profit level was influenced by the investments worth over 2 million RON the company made to bring the production facilities up to the EU standards," stated Alin Giurea, general manager of Pambac.
Giurea also said the rise in turnover was caused by the positive results related to the milling products and pasta.
"The nine-month results are in line with the estimates made earlier this year. As the summer months are not a high season for the products in our portfolio, we will make the positive revises after the autumn-winter period, when the sales of milling and bakery products, as well as of pasta will rise," added Giurea. The company saw its sales volume growing by 28%.
This month Pambac will launch a new brand on the pasta market. Gata brand is added to a portfolio that already includes 5 brands owned by the company and will be supported by a promotion campaign.
The company representatives bet on a 30% rise in turnover this year, to 40 million euros. Pambac derived turnover worth 32 million euros and profit amounting to 5.3 million euros last year, considering the company's net profit in late 2004 was lower than 100,000 euros.
The Bacau-based company signed a partnership with Interbrands Marketing & Distribution this year, aiming to deliver its products in Bucharest, as well as in other 23 counties in Southern and South-Western regions of Romania.
While, until 2004, Pambac had invested mainly in production and technological development - for which it earmarked over 18 million within 5 years, as of last year, the company has focused on reorganising its sales, distribution and marketing activities. Pambac budgeted over 2.3 million euros (rate-card values, without discounts) to promote the brands from its portfolio, with the largest investment being made to promote Grania flour brand.
The investments carried out by the Bacau-based producer this year amounted to 5 million euros in total, and were also aimed at the modernisation of the logistics department, as well as the increase in production capacities for pasta, bakery and pastry products.
Pambac's portfolio comprises flour, semolina, maize, pasta, bakery and pastry products as well as ameliorants for bakery.
