Samsung to expand presence in small and medium-sized cities

28.09.2008, 20:07 6

Samsung Romania, the local subsidiary of South-Korean manufacturer of electronics, home appliances and IT equipment, intends to expand its presence into small and medium-sized cities in Romania, via an increasingly aggressive brand-oriented campaign and via partnerships with large IT&C retail chains. "So far, our investments have only targeted the capital, which is the first target of a company that intends to expand onto a certain market. We have reached a high enough level in Bucharest, and now we will focus on cities with over 300,000 inhabitants," JeongEon Kim, CEO of Samsung Romania, who took over at the helm of the company in May this year, told ZF. In August, Samsung Electronics announced internationally that it intended to accelerate its growth on emerging markets such as Romania, Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa and Vietnam. "Romania is one of Samsung's chosen strategic markets. In Europe, we also target Poland and the Czech Republic, due to market size and to the business development rate," explained Kim.
