Tondach Romania, a part of the Austrian building materials producer Tondach, will invest at least 1.5 million euros this year in expanding the production capacity of its Sibiu-based plant. Following these investments, due to start next year, production facilities will increase by some 40-45%, according to company officials. The Sibiu-based plant produces 12 million units per year. The management of Tondach Romania estimates an approximate growth of 35% this year, building on the 8 million-euro turnover for 2005. "Last year we sold 20 million tiles on the Romanian market, with some of them being produced in Sibiu and the rest being imported from other facilities of the group. Our top sellers were products for the medium priced sector, accounting for some 75% of the total sales," stated Eugen Pitic, manager of the sales department at Tondach Romania. The group sells three types of products in Romania, with a price ranging from five euros per square metre for the economy market to 40 euros per square metres for the luxury market. ZF
