During the Paris Auto Show yesterday, Automobile Dacia, owned by the French group Renault, presented the Logan MCV model, which sports a station wagon body and up to seven seats. It allocated 154 million euros for investments in this project, which includes a utility version. The model will start selling in Romania on October 4 and on the other European markets early next year. Sales on the Romanian market are estimated at about 3,000 units this year and 20,000 units next year, the company's chairman Fran?ois Fourmont said. The total sales of the model in Romania and foreign markets are projected to reach about 60,000 units in 2007. The car is built, as was the Logan sedan, on the B platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance, but is slightly longer. The MCV in the vehicle's name stands for Multi Convivial Vehicle. Logan MCV is one of the five models to be developed based on the Logan sedan as part of the Contract Renault 2009 programme, presented by the new chairman of the French carmaker, Carlos Ghosn, early this year. The prices of the new vehicle will range from 8,200 to 11,600 euros, all taxes included. Fourmont says the new model will target the former Dacia station wagon customers, families with kids, and small entrepreneurs. The Dacia official added there was no competition for Logan MCV on the domestic market yet, considering the size and price of the car.
